Primed Stile and Rail Glass Options

Adding glass in place of the panels in stile and rail doors creates a French door and allows light to flow through the home. French doors can accompany any home design and utilize either clear, privacy, or decorative glass.

Glass Privacy

Each glass type has its own level of privacy and this can be a big decision maker when choosing a door. This video gives a better understanding of how private each glass type is.

Design Options

Sometimes instead of one big piece of glass, a door with a divided look fits better in a home’s design. The primed stile and rail doors use true divided lite construction and 1-1/4″ bars to create this look.

As a note, when divided lite doors are not as wide, the number of lites or glass panes in the door go down. For example, a 10 lite door that is 1’6″ wide will only have 5 lites or pieces of glass. Shown below is a 3/0 PR8010 and a 1/6 PR8010 to showcase the difference.

Layout Options

Below are the design options as well as a close-up of each privacy and decorative glass style.

Clear glass allows the most light through and is the least private.

Primed Stile and Rail Doors

Primed stile and rail doors are an ideal choice for homeowners seeking a clean look for their home. Primed Stile and Rail Doors are made up of multiple components which come together to create the final product.

Stile and Rails

The stiles and rails have a solid wood engineered core for added strength, stability, and reduced sound transmission. The core is covered with an MDF veneer which is permanently bonded to the core resisting dents, dings, and gouges and makes for a superior paint surface.

Dowel Pins and Panels

The stile and rails are joined by dowel pins. In between the stiles and rail, there can be a flat or raised panel made of MDF for a smooth painted finish or there can be a glass element to allow natural light into the next room.

Sharp Details and Architecturally Correct

Primed stile and rail doors join components together to create sharp shadow lines. Each door is made with perfectly proportioned stiles, rails and panels that are created individually to ensure that every door is architecturally correct.

Conclusion

Recent developments within the millwork industry continue to strengthen the case for primed stile and rail doors, making them an excellent choice for discerning homeowners seeking increased strength, better durability, better aesthetics, and greater life expectancy at a similar price point to their molded door counterparts.

Barn Doors

Barn Doors are a particular design of door that reflects a more rustic approach to the door panel. It’s commonly hung as a sliding door with barn door hardware. This is hardware that is mounted to the surface of the wall and requires a track and hardware that’s placed on the door surface or top edge. Barn door hardware comes in a range of options and colors from Goldberg Brothers.

Barn Door Orientations

Barn Doors have certain designs to them. Reeb stocks the “Z” style and “K” style. Due the diagonals on each door, they are considered handed when placed in a prehung and to correctly hang the door in a frame, the orientation of the “letter” needs to be specified. This means we need to call the door as “readable” or “reversed” from the stop or hinge side of the door.
