SteelCraft Hinge and Bore Locations

Many of Reeb’s Commercial doors and frames are manufactured to SteelCraft specifications. These specifications relate to the location of the hinges and bore. SteelCraft specifications are consistent with Amweld doors which was once a popular product in many of Reeb’s northeast territories. By stocking both the doors and frames to the same specification, they will match up when a unit is created.

There are other specification types out there which are different to SteelCraft (Pioneer, Ceco, Curries). If replacing a door only, it is important to know where the hinges and bore fall on the door. A non-SteelCraft door will not work in a SteelCraft frame. Doors or frames to other specifications are possible, but they must be special order only.

SteelCraft Door Specifications

Hollow Metal Doors are undersized 1/4” in width and 3/4” in height. They feature a square steel edge with pre-machined hinge and bore locations as well as an option for 161 Prep or Rim Reinforcement. Because Hollow Metal doors have a steel edge, it is not possible to adjust the location of the hinges and bore on site.

Architectural Wood Doors are undersized 3/16” in width, and 3/4” in height. They feature a beveled edge and are not pre-machined for hinge or bore locations. This door is machined by Reeb to SteelCraft specifications when a SteelCraft frame is used, but can be machined differently if another Commercial Frame is utilized.
