Crossheads are a decorative unit that go above the door unit. Fypon developed a solution for crossheads that are too long or too short in the field. Trimmable crossheads make it easy during field application because they are easily adjusted in length and can be customized for a door, window, or garage opening. The Distinction Crosshead is a trimmable crosshead profile.
After trimming, an end cap needs to be attached to the sides to finish off the look.
When attached, the end caps overlap the crosshead the size of the rabbet on the back side of the end caps.
This profile of crosshead can be paired with a keystone, dentil trim, or bottom trim. There are two types of keystones: a plain design and a design with a recessed panel.
The part number for the distinction trimmable crosshead is CHTCWWXH where:
- CH = Crosshead
- T = Trimmable
- WW = Width
- H = Height
The part number for the distinction trimmable crosshead end cap is CHCWXH where:
- CH = Crosshead
- C = Cap
- W = Width
- H = Height
When ordering the distinction crosshead:
- Measure the crosshead height that is desired.
- Measure the overall width where the crosshead and end caps will sit.
- Select the end cap width needed. The end cap should coordinate with the pilaster or moulding on either side of the door/window. If no moulding is used then any end cap width can be chosen.
- Determine the trimmable crosshead size needed (overall width needed – end cap back surface X 2)
- Select the trimmable crosshead that will work.
- If desired, select a keystone, dentil trim, or bottom trim accessory.
