Endura ADAptive Sill

A problem commonly faced by today’s multi-family home builders is the need to comply with ADA regulations, ensuring accessibility for all. However, ADA compliant sills can be prone to leaks, especially in openings without much protection.

Fortunately, there’s a solution – the Endura ADAptive Sill. This innovative ADA-compliant door sill from Endura not only ensures compliance but also offers protection against water infiltration and the costly service calls that often follow.

Sill Components

The Endura ADAptive Sill comprises several key components: 1. base sill 2. caulking strip 3. standard cap 4. tileback sill cap 5. jamb boot

Caulking Strip

The caulking strip, attached underneath the sill, spans the full sill length and provides a flat caulking surface, eliminating a common source of leaks.

Inswing Sill Cap Options

ADAptive inswing sills work with various caps, including the Standard Cap for a typical ADA sill, the Tileback Cap for a clean transition against square edge flooring, and the Sidelite Cap for sidelite units.

Jamb and Mull Boot

With normal ADA sills, the edges are particularly vulnerable to water intrusion due to an inability to properly seal the connection between the sill and the bottom of the jamb.

The jamb boot, equipped with a pre-applied sealing gasket, provides a weathertight seal at the edges of the sill. It is available in brown and white.

For sidelite units, the mull boot color will match the jamb boots. Mull boots can be used with a standard or fat boy mullpost.

Sill Depth

Sill extenders can be added to the inswing 4-9/16″ and 5-5/8″ sills. The sill extenders are designed only for inswing sills, expanding the range of possible widths.

Short vs Long

For certain jamb depths, there is a choice between a “short” sill and a “long” sill.

A short sill stops at the end of the jamb.

A long sill reaches out about 1” further to the brickmould.

Configurations

The Endura Adaptive Sill is available for just about any unit configuration. Both inswing and outswing sills can be used for single, double, sidelite, and patio units. Patio units cannot use a screen as there is no screen track. There is no limitation to using a multi-point locking system
