DP Rated Therma-Tru Unit with Venting Sidelites

Design Pressure (DP) is a numerical value rating which defines the structural wind loading requirements for a building, and components or cladding of a building, described in pounds per square foot. Essentially Design Pressure represents the wind load the door system can withstand.

The following are general requirements for a Therma-Tru Continuous Door Unit with Venting Sidelitesto receive a DP rating:

  • Door: 2-1/2” screws through the stile and into the top and bottom rails
  • Door: Fiber-Classic or Smooth-Star
  • Sidelites: No additional screws needed through sidelites
  • Frame: Frame members connected to the rough opening can be wood or composite
  • Mullpost: Must be a clear mullpost

During testing, the unit used a door with an entry lock and deadbolt. Due to the Fat Boy Mullpost (1” thicker) used with Venting Sidelite units, a unit was also tested using a multi-point locking system. Specific requirements exist based on the lock type used.

  • Entry with Deadbolt: 8/0 doors need a 5-1/2″ Center on Center Bore
  • Entry with Deadbolt: No additional screws needed on the strike mullpost
  • Multi-Point Locking System: No additional screws needed on the strike mullpost

Below are the unit types that are possible as well as any specific requirements that are necessary.
