Therma-Tru’s multi-point locking system is a great way to add security into a home. After installing the handleset, sometimes the door may not close properly, and that’s because the latch is not handed correctly. There is an easy way to fix this.
When looking at the strike side of the door, there are two pieces we need to focus on. When handed incorrectly, these pieces face the wrong way. To fix this, simply pull them out and turn them 180 degrees. If either of them are difficult to grab with your fingers or pull out, feel free to use a pair of pliers to help you.
When closing the door with the latches handed the correct way, they interact with the strike plate and give you a nice secure fit. And that’s it! That’s how you change the handing of a Therma-Tru multi-point locking system.
