Front porch posts serve as a lovely finishing touch on a home’s facade. By adding or replacing porch posts, it can actually enhance the overall aesthetic and charm of the home.
A #100 turned wood porch post is available for home designs that require wood instead of synthetic material. The turned wood posts are available in 4″, 5″, and 6″ nominal sizes. Woods posts must be installed with aluminum plinths or quick-mount brackets to comply with the warranty and prevent moisture damage. Number 100 Turned Wood Post is manufactured using a paint grade, kiln dried pine. It is primed white and ready to paint with a one year warranty.
Aluminum Plinth for Wood Posts must be installed with columns to comply with the warranty. If the customer can find a quick mount bracket to comply with the warranty, this will also work.
In order for a cylindrical lock to fit in the door, a bore must be cut into the door. A standard bore is 2-1/8” in diameter.
Typically, a single bore is cut 38” up from the bottom of the door. If a deadbolt is also being added to the door, a double bore will be cut into the door face.
The distance from the edge of the door to the middle of the bore is called the backset. The two common backsets are 2-3/8” and 2-3/4”. Some door styles are limited in the backset that can be used.
Locksets can have different functions and locking abilities.
A passage lock doesn’t lock, but keeps the door latched to the frame. This type of lock is typically used on closet doors.
A bedroom or bathroom lock allows for the door to be locked from inside the room. However, there is typically a way to unlock it from the outside in case of emergency.
An entry lock is a keyed handle which is the best security on exterior doors.
A storeroom lock will always be locked from the outside and will need a key to open. The inside of the lock is always unlocked for ease of exit.
A dummy knob is a non-turning handle with no locking mechanism. They are surface mounted and are often used on double doors, closets, and pantry doors.

It is a lighter duty hardware and only available for 1-3/8” doors. The Straight Strap supports 125 pounds per panel.

The Stainless Steel Barn Door Hardware Surface Mount Set can be used for 1-3/8” or 1-3/4” thicknesses. The stock kits should be used with 1-3/8” wood doors or solid core/wood core molded doors with a double top rail (preferably). The double top rail in a molded door will allow the hardware to be fastened securely. Note: This item is ONLY the hardware. The track needed is a separate item.
