Steel edge steel doors are designed with a full steel-edge perimeter creating a sturdier steel door. These doors are insulated with a polyurethane core and are available with a 90-minute fire rating when used with a 90-minute fire rated frame. Some people prefer the metal edge construction for extra strength and rigidity.
Reeb stocks three versions of steel edge fire doors. For commercial applications we have the Hollow Metal steel doors. For residential applications Reeb offers the SE and RSP Series doors. Reeb’s stock of steel edge doors cannot have custom hinge and bore locations. All hinge, bore, and strike prep is completed by the factory and in accordance with fire safety codes.
The SE Series 90-minute door utilizes the U1 size, or undersized, Therma-Tru 90-minute door. They are made in 6/8 and 7/0 sizes and are stocked with 5-1/2” on center bore locations for when a double bore is needed. For special order requests, a 4” on center frame can be bought. When needed, these door can be trimmed by Reeb up to 4″ from the bottom only, dropping both hinge and bore locations by 4″.
The RSP or RF Series 90-minute fire door frames utilize a full size door (full in width and undersized in height by 3/4″ to accept a sweep). These frames are stocked by Reeb in 6/8, 7/0 and 8/0 heights and some have an option for 4” or 5-1/2” on center bore locations out of stock. When needed, these door can be trimmed by Reeb up to 3″ from the bottom only, dropping both hinge and bore locations by 3″.
