A number which describes in specific terms, the ability of a material or assembly to transmit heat from outside to inside surfaces. The U-value of glass is measured by the number of BTUs that will pass through each square foot area, per degree of temperature difference, from one side of the glass to the other. The lower the U-value, the greater the glass’s resistance to heat flow and the higher the insulating value.
